Dunia Terbalik tells the story of husbands whose wives leave them to work abroad. It begins with the stories of Akum, Aceng, Idoy, and Dadang. They must raise their children and manage household chores, which are usually the women's responsibility. Meanwhile, their wives must support their families. Dadang is one of the fortunate husbands because his wife earns the highest income among the other migrant workers. This good fortune often leads him to flaunt his wealth and makes Aceng jealous. Aceng always tries to outdo Dadang in various ways. However, sometimes Aceng ends up getting his way. Akum and Idoy mediate to prevent the situation from escalating. Ciraos Village, as the largest supplier of migrant workers, is inextricably linked to Yoyoh's role. He actively persuades prospective migrant workers to go abroad with the promise of substantial earnings. One of the residents he consistently influences is Kokom. Kokom, whose life is often meager and even destitute, aspires to live a life of abundance, like the other Ciraos residents who become migrant workers. She wanted to take over the responsibility of earning a living by working abroad. However, Kokom's husband, Koswara, was unlike most husbands in Ciraos village. Koswara absolutely refused to allow Kokom to work abroad, believing that the husband was the breadwinner, no matter how difficult the situation. This issue sparked a prolonged conflict in their marriage. To resolve their problems, the villagers of Ciraos often sought advice from Pak Kemed, or Ustadz Kemed, as he is more commonly known. Like a religious teacher, the villagers looked to him as a role model. Unfortunately, Pak Kemed wasn't a religious teacher who relied on scriptures for his teachings, but rather on Google.
