LEI ÁUREA EXPLICADA: O QUE MUDOU APÓS 1888? | História com Prof. Vitor Soares

Did the Golden Law really end slavery in Brazil? In this interview with @HistóriaPretaThiagoAndré, we'll understand how the abolition of slavery happened, what the political and economic interests behind the Golden Law were, and why freedom took so long to truly arrive for millions of enslaved people. We discuss the historical context of Imperial Brazil, the English pressure to end the slave trade, the abolitionist movements, the resistance of the slave-owning elites, and the problems faced by the Black population after 1888. Even after Princess Isabel signed the Golden Law, many formerly enslaved people continued to live in precarious conditions, without basic rights, dignified work, or access to land. The video also explains why slavery did not disappear immediately after abolition and how various social and economic structures continued to affect the Black population in Brazil for decades. #GoldenLaw #AbolitionOfSlavery #HistoryOfBrazil #BrazilianEmpire #SlaveryInBrazil #PrincessIsabel #History #VitorSoares #HistoryWithProfVitorSoares My name is Vitor Soares, I am a History teacher, and welcome to the channel!
