In the Mahabharata,the “Cheer Haran”(Disrobing of Draupati) incident is a dramatic and pivotal moment. It occurs after the Pandavas lose a rigged dice game to the Kauravas, leading to their exile and the forfeiture of everything they possess, including their wife, Draupadi. Yudhishthira, the eldest Pandava, stakes Draupadi and loses her to the Kauravas. Dushasana, a Kaurava brother, drags Draupadi into the court, attempting to disrobe her as a means of public humiliation. Despite her frantic pleas for dignity and justice, none of the court members, including the elders, intervene. Draupadi calls out to Krishna, who miraculously protects her by making her sari endlessly extend, thus preventing her complete disrobing and safeguarding her modesty. This act of divine intervention becomes a turning point, leading to the Pandavas’ determination to seek revenge. The subsequent Kurukshetra War is driven by the Pandavas’ desire to restore their honor and avenge the wrongs done to Draupadi. After the war, Bhima, one of the Pandavas, fulfills his vow of vengeance against Dushasana. He kills Dushasana and, as a grim act of retribution, drinks his blood, symbolizing the fulfillment of his promise to Draupadi and the restoration of justice.
