Our day started with breakfast at a local cafe, where we sampled nasi goreng and mie goreng, both prepared with fresh ingredients and aromatic spices. Each plate was a small show of color and flavor, and the prices were surprisingly affordable. We immediately felt the difference between the tourist experience and the authentic one: everything was cooked with passion and for the locals, not just for visitors. After breakfast, we went shopping locally, exploring the markets full of artisanal souvenirs, clothes, jewelry, and traditional items. The prices were much better than in the tourist areas, and bargaining with the vendors was a fun and friendly game. We bought decorations for the house, some colorful clothes, and small souvenirs for family and friends, all at reasonable prices. What made the day really special was the authentic cultural experience: we came across a traditional ceremony on the street. The locals wore traditional costumes and carried offerings, and children and adults danced and chanted sacred mantras. The atmosphere was electrifying and full of spirituality – a part of everyday life in Ubud that tourists rarely get to experience. We had the opportunity to get up close, take photos and learn about the meaning of each ritual. The day would have ended with a relaxing walk through the rice fields, where the silence and intense green of nature make you completely forget about the urban hustle and bustle, but we didn’t make it because we got lost in the crowded streets of UBUD, showing that Ubud is a place that connects you with tradition, people and the simple beauty of everyday life. A day in Ubud is not just a tourist trip, but a lesson in authenticity: delicious food, local shopping and cultural experiences that stay in your soul long after you leave.
