It is international. The Channel Tunnel, which is owned and operated separately by Getlink and connects the United Kingdom and France, is where the majority of Eurostar trains travel. On high-speed lines, the trains travel at speeds of up to 320 kilometers per hour (200 mph). Before Eurostar services began in 1994, the LGV Nord high-speed line in France opened. Later, newer lines that allowed for faster travel were added: In Belgium, HSL 1, and in southeast England, High Speed 1. TGV trains and Paris–Brussels Thalys services share the French and Belgian portions of the network. Eurostar is run by Eurostar International Limited (EIL), which is owned by Eurostar Group and is in charge of Eurostar. As part of a merger with Thalys that was approved in March 2022, Eurostar announced in December 2021 that it would relocate its administrative operations from London to Brussels.
