Hey everyone in the off-grid community! How's it going? Today I'm bringing you a harsh reality about my system: how the position of the solar panels makes all the difference in energy generation. I have 6 panels of 160W installed, totaling 960W of theoretical power. But can you believe they're only generating 300W? The reason for this loss is that they're installed on my roof facing SOUTH, which isn't ideal. In this video, I show the math behind this loss and explain why the MPPT controller can't work miracles if the panel isn't sending the correct energy. I also discuss upgrade options: is it worth investing in larger panels or even the famous bifacial panels? I show why bifacial panels wouldn't work on my roof without a special structure and comment on the high labor cost (around a thousand reais!) to move the current panels to the North side of the house.
