Signed by Belgian rising talent Strapontin and including remixes by Damon Jee and Thomass Jackson, 10th Hard Fist release is on the way. ‘The End of Logic’, as the title says, is an ode to nonsense for the pleasure of absurdity that strongly echoes today’s context: a world going mad. Being the first vinyl EP of Strapontin, the music here is a solution to escape the widespread pessimism and an injunction to look for happiness. Strapontin flies over a not right-thinking society with derision. More clubby as ever, the record also has something very unusual, a frenetic pace which always comes when we do not expect it. To emphasize the senselessness, the multi-talented artist created with his boyfriend Yvan Megal a video game: ‘Nervous Days’ which is the first track of the EP. The game is a mad rush for virtual recognition, underscoring people's egocentricity. The strong singularity in this piece comes from the cross-disciplinary skills of Patrick Belmont aka Strapontin who is a visual artist, a performer and a producer. He started to release music under Strapontin in 2014 after spending 15 years learning music and studying fine art. Dark can be fun, disco can be sad, violence can be pleasant. Strapontin is not a man afraid of trying new things. Signed to the labels Optimo, I’m A Cliché, la Belle or Nein Records, the Belgian artist has crafted his own style located somewhere in an unknown land between post punk, tribal downtempo and dark disco. With heavy, sensual beats, other-worldly vocals and cavernous basslines, his view of music is adventurous and mindful with a taste of queerness. You probably have caught him lately remixing Karpov Not Kasparov, Golden Bug, Vox Low or brilliantly editing bombs for I’m A Cliché. He’s also part of different dance collectives, usually working as a soundtrack composer, which has influenced his uncompromising music for years. With ‘The End of Logic’ Hard Fist signs here his most mature project since it started 3 years ago. This felt like an opportunity for a new artwork collaboration with a cover signed by the Paris-based illustrator Leo Marsal who introduced his own extravagance (with color!) in the Hard Fist universe. Figurehead of the Dark Disco mouvement, Damon Jee takes the EBM and industrial influence of Strapontin’s original to build this monster dancing tool.
