AKMUZ FER Sings On The Square of St. Peter's | First General Audience | May 21st, 2025
Pope Leo XIV held his first General Audience on Wednesday, May 21. During this event, the Academic male choir of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, under the direction of maestro Josip degl' Ivellio, had the honor of performing two pieces from its rich spiritual repertoire. At the beginning of the audience, the Choir performed the composition "Slavopjev" by Ivan pl. Zajc, and for the Holy Father himself, they sang the Alleluia from the composition "Mi treba da se hvalimo" by Don Miho Demović. After the audience, the Holy Father engaged in a brief conversation with representatives of the Choir, followed by a group photograph. The Square of St. Peter's historically resounded with the songs of Croatian composers. It is an exceptional honor for the Choir, the University of Zagreb, and the Republic of Croatia that Croats had the opportunity to be the first to sing for the Holy Father. Participation in the audience was organized as part of the Choir's "RIM 2025" tour. On this occasion, the Choir performed at a Mass led by Cardinal Vinko Puljić at the Pontifical Croatian Institute of St. Jerome and held a concert of sacred music at the Diocesano di Musica Sacra festival. AKMUZ extends its gratitude to the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to the Holy See, particularly to Ms. Tea Zupičić, for their kindness and assistance in realizing this event. --- Video by: Leon Bučar --- Official Page: https://akmuz.fer.hr Official e-mail: [email protected] YouTube: / akmuzfer Facebook: / akmuzfer Instagram: / akmuzfer Twitter: / akmuzfer
