Learn how to install the NDS® 5 in. Pro Series Channel™ Drain to capture stormwater runoff from driveways, patios, courtyards, & walkways. ► Visit the NDS Home Drainage Center https://www.ndspro.com/home-drainage to start planning your drainage project today! ************************ 💦 Channel drains are an effective water management solutions for various hardscapes including driveways, patios, pool areas, and walkways, efficiently diverting standing water to drain pipes for safe discharge downstream. Their durability, ease of installation, and reliability make them a superior alternative to conventional concrete drains, ensuring protection for your home and landscape against the risks of oversaturation. 💦 Protect your property from flooding hazards by installing NDS's 5 inch Pro Series Channel drains. In this video, we’ll cover two installation methods: suspension and rebar. The same steps can be applied to all NDS Pro Series channels. They involve the forming, pouring, and finishing of concrete. Contact a contractor with the installation if needed and explore all our drainage solutions at http://www.ndspro.com/. How to Install the NDS Pro Series Channel Drain: ► Before You Dig: Call 811 or your local utility services to mark utility lines before digging. ► Start Digging: Dig a trench for the channel drain, allowing space for concrete. For drivable areas, leave 4 inches of concrete on both sides and underneath for support. For non-drivable areas, allocate 4 inches on each side. Also, dig for the drain pipe, maintaining a slope of 1% or 1 inch of fall per 8 feet of pipe, leading to an approved discharge point. ► Build Concrete Form: Create the form using wood and stakes, leaving space for the channel and concrete. Measure the form length to determine how much channel drain you need, and cut it with a hacksaw. If using the bottom outlet, remove it with a utility knife. For drivable areas, recess the channel 1/8-1/4 inch into the concrete to protect it. Use tie wire to secure wood on top of the channel to protect the grate and tape it to prevent debris from entering during the pour. ► Suspension Method: Position stakes perpendicular to the channel and secure it using tie wire looped around rebar clips. Lift the channel into place, allowing 4 inches of concrete around it. Secure to prevent movement. Connect the drain pipe by applying waterproof silicone to the elbow and inserting it into the bottom outlet. Pour the concrete, remove tape and wood, and smooth the surface. ► Rebar Method: Support the channel with bricks in the trench before installing rebar. Recess the channel 1/8-1/4 inch below the concrete form’s top. Insert rebar next to the channel and hammer it into place, ensuring it’s flush with the rebar clip. Secure the channel onto the rebar, then proceed with connecting, pouring, and finishing the concrete, just as in the suspension method. Remove any tape and smooth out the concrete surface for the desired finish. ************************ ► For more information on how to diagnose and solve your drainage problem, please visit us at https://ndspro.com/home-drainage/ and start planning your drainage project today! ► For more videos on Yard Drainage watch • Yard Solutions ************************ Homeowner Drainage Resources ► Home Drainage Center https://ndspro.com/home-drainage/ ► Find a Contractor https://www.ndspro.com/contractor ► Where to Buy https://www.ndspro.com/where-to-buy ► Pop-up Drainage Emitter https://www.ndspro.com/products/drain... ► Flo-Well Dry Well https://www.ndspro.com/products/drain...
