Its about an 8 minute drive to the Bankhead Tunnel from Spanish Fort. The causeway was completed in 1926 and the Bankhead tunnel was completed in 1939, which required a toll until the mid 1970s. The Wallace Tunnel was completed in 1973, with the I-10 Bayway being completed in 1975. The I-10 Bayway Bridge usually has heavy summer time traffic.
