Exploring a Forgotten Gold Working in New Zealand

In this episode, we head into one of New Zealand’s forgotten gold workings to see just how much ground the old timers moved in their search for gold. Exploring the towering cliffs, tailings and worked ground left behind, we follow the clues of the past to understand how these miners transformed the landscape and why they worked this area so heavily. Using the old workings as our treasure map, we head down to the river and put their theory to the test, setting up the sluice and working a small beach to see if any gold was left behind after all these years.
