The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit is one of seven Marine Expeditionary Units in the United States Marine Corps. Based in Okinawa, Japan, it is a permanently forward-deployed Marine Air-Ground Task Force consisting of approximately 2,200 Marines and Sailors. As the only permanently forward-deployed MEU, the 31st MEU provides a flexible and lethal force capable of conducting a wide range of military, humanitarian, and diplomatic operations.
