How to Find Architectural Ideas - Breaking Through Creative Block

Thinking of architectural ideas is hard and can be very overwhelming. Learn how I break through creative block and find architectural ideas that motivate me and push my architectural projects forward. Last year I had complete freedom to choose a brief for my final year-long university project. This was awesome. ... So I thought. Having no boundaries or limits to what I could choose, I found it extremely overwhelming coming up with initial design ideas. There was one trick, however, that flipped my world upside down and allowed the idea floodgates to open. Not only was I able to write ideas, draw sketches and develop a design for 4 hours straight, but I was able to finally find an idea that motivated me and pushed my project to the next stage. What I found that helped was by reviewing a number of architectural books. In particular, the Architecture Competitions Yearbook collection. These books are filled with student and professional projects. Seeing and reading the ideas of successful architects and students allowed my own ideas to stir up in a big melting pot.
