(MD JRS 15 Elite Yellow) Kennedy was coached by Tuan Nguyen who is responsible for her initial development and taught Kennedy the Middle Hitter Position. Coach Tuan moved Kennedy up from the Open Team to the Elite Yellow Team at the beginning of the club season in late 2015. Like most 15 year old girls in their 1st year of club volleyball, Kennedy really struggled with the sport. Kennedy was not particularly fast, her eye/hand coordination was average, and her hitting and blocking needed a lot of work as the tape will show. Kennedy continued to work with Coach Tuan with private lessons. After the end of the 2015 club season, Kennedy finally acquired and perfected the fundamental techniques of the MH/MB position while still working on her hitting and blocking which progressed slowly. While Coach Tuan and Kennedy eventually left MDJRS, the training and coaching Kennedy received set forth an upward trajectory for the rest of her volleyball career. I am thankful to MDJRS and Club Director Coach Sean. Kennedy's club season was cut short in 2017, then moved to Columbia Volleyball Academy in 2018 and finally to Chesapeake Elite Volleyball Academy in 2019, her senior season. At the end of Kennedy's senior season in 2019, Kennedy had over 10 full division 1 volleyball scholarship offers and none of that would have been possible without the initial foundation taught under Coach Tuan's training. At 18, Kennedy was quick, a shut down blocker and a terminal hitter. Kennedy also played with Claudia Sweitzer (#52 in the video) at MDJRS. Claudia and Kennedy teamed up again their junior year at Columbia Volleyball Academy in 2018. Claudia is currently the starting setter at Salisbury University.
