IJN Seaplane Tender Kimikawa Maru 君川丸 1/700 Aoshima

The Kimikawa Maru was built as a cargo ship for a civillian shipping company in Kobe by Kawasaki Dockyard and completed in 1937. The ship was deployed for naval use by the IJN and converted into a Seaplane Tender in July 1941 prior to the Pacific War. She participated in transporting cargo and escorting ships throughout the Pacific War. On 23 October 1944, a convoy of Kamikawa Maru ships was ambushed by two American submarines and Kamikawa Maru was hit by 4 torpedoes out of 5 fired by the USS Sawfish and sank in 2.5 minutes. for Malaysian Modellers, this model can be found at: https://shopee.com.my/Kimikawamaru-1-...
