My car broke down in a remote plateau at over 14,000 feet. That breakdown led me to find a shivering little kitten among the rocks by the road. There was nothing but wilderness around, the nearest village over twelve miles away. I couldn't bear to think what would have happened to her if I hadn't stopped. I put on my gloves and approached carefully. She was scared and struggled, but when I gave her food and water, the way she gobbled it up just melted my heart. The first thing I did when we reached Dali was take her to the vet. The doctor said she was healthy, and I could finally breathe again. From that day on, she slowly walked into my life — falling asleep in my arms, climbing onto my head playfully, learning to use the litter box, cuddling up on the pillow and rubbing her face against mine. That little one who once hid on a tire for warmth now sees our car and home as her whole world. An unexpected breakdown brought me the warmest bond. From the plateau to the city, she wasn't just rescued by me — she healed me too.
