This is one of the songs from the experimental album FIVE by urban folk artist Arko Mukhaerjee Chol mini Assam Jabo is a song based on traditional working class melodies from the tea gardens of northern part of Bengal, India aligning the borders of Bhutan and Assam. The tribals from Manbhum were taken as cheap labours to work in the tea gardens near Gorumara and Chapramari and other areas in North Bengal. The same song is found in the santhali tribal belts of Bengal, where from the tribal people were taken almost in enslavement to work in the tea estates of british India. This is a humble tribute to Late Kali Dasgupta, the man whose intense hard work has enabled musicians of contemporary Bengal to know about the music of the working class of North Bengal.
