Detailed Project Video: Bringing Gustav Klimt Tree of Life Alive by Ala Krivov

More: http://ala.krivov.com About Project Hello there! Hola, bonjour, ni hao, privet, ciao! My name is Ala. Some of you might know me from social media networks: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Art Groups. Or some of you might know me from Yale, where I am working towards my masters’ degree in Religion and Music. Also, you might know me from my music performances, or digital artworks that I art-directed. If none of the above, then it is my pleasure to meet you! Project We are raising funds for a beautiful art project that is dedicated to Gustav Klimt’s genius, and aiming to put together an animated music video, which will be based on Klimt’s “Tree of Life”, and musically illustrated by Handel’s “Ombra mai fu.” Imagine that life will be breathed into this famous and fabulous piece while Ala will be singing one of the most well-known classical music works. We will do the animation in 2D to preserve Gustav Klimt’s unique Art Nouveau style as much as possible. However, some elements will be in 3D, like character’s skin. It will be implemented by the most talented professionals. In fact, everything will be done locally: studio recordings, orchestral musicians, DVD-authoring. Ala will be physically involved in every single step of the process: not by email, video conference, phone or in any other digitally-mediated way, but personally - to ensure quality and success of this project. And of course, we will send everybody regular status updates. You can expect to see an animated story board and behind a scene clips. So, why Klimt and Handel? Ever since Ala was a teenager and learned about Klimt, she was fascinated by Klimt's art. The “Tree of Life” has a reference virtually in every culture and religion. No matter who you are, we are sure you can relate to it. The Tree of Life connects heaven and earth. This idea has been an important symbol since the ancient times. A tree is used as a metaphor for life and unity. Naturally, Ala chose Handel’s “Ombra mai fu” because she is a classical singer, and this song is about a tree - and of course, it is beautiful too. Also, not that it matters for this video, Ala is concerned about rainforests and forests situation. If possible, she might involve some non-profit organization and help them to raise funds by using this video in whole or in parts, when it is finalized. Goal Our minimum goal is to raise $7,500 (please see our stretch goals down below). Even though it sounds like we are asking for a lot of money, this is a minimum cost for such a project. Normally, professional music video would cost anywhere from 10,000 to 50,000, depending on ambitions. What the production process will be like? First, we will do the story board, studio voice recording and green screen video recording. Then the animators will start doing their magic. We will produce this video at 30 frames per second – this is how movies are created. So, there will be 1,800 frames in a minute, meaning that the animators will have to create 1,800 images and put them in a sequence, which is a very time-consuming process. In the end, we will produce a DVD, and that, along with packaging, shipping cost and processing fees, will eat up a quarter of a budget. Unfortunately, it is super expensive to ship international packages from USA. So, the more money this project will raise the better-quality video and animation we can produce. Ideally, we are hoping to raise twice as much as a minimum cost. Stretch Goals We are hoping to exceed our initial funding goal. Each step will bring our project closer to absolute perfection. Stretch goals might increase production time, but it will be worth it! 10,000 – We will make final product more breathtaking by animating more elements in the video, such as flowers, lawn, fruits, etc. 15,000 – We will bring "couple" (panel called Fulfillment) into life and add more visual effects to make this piece even more astonishing. Also, we would be able to create longer behind the scenes video. Aditionally, we will use these funds to create a marketing campaign. Rewards Everybody loves rewards! We will give as much back as we can. There will be digital downloads, social media shout-outs. There will be signed DVDs with behind-a-scene video clips, slideshow of Gustav Klimt’s artwork, and of course the video that we are producing. Also, signed photographs, sponsor credits on DVD and online, and an opportunity to become an executive producer of this project. Please check the reward section on our Kickstarter page and read project information for more details. Sure enough, together we will create this incredible art piece. And we thank you in advance for your support.
