They reject his proposal and deploy their navy to Celestial Island to seize full control of the Adamantium. Soon after, the navies of India and France also mobilize toward the island. Sam Wilson and Joaquin Torres head to Celestial Island, where Ross and Japanese Prime Minister Ozaki are in a race to claim ownership of the Adamantium. Ross has already dispatched Carrier Group 5 to secure American interests in the area. Meanwhile, Sterns takes control of the minds of two U.S. fighter pilots and manipulates them into attacking the Japanese fleet. Sam and Joaquin intercept the jets just in time and manage to de-escalate the situation, convincing the Japanese forces to stand down. However, Joaquin is critically injured during the confrontation.
