Ritmo Shuffle y el Rhythm and Blues

In this video, we're going to learn what the Shuffle rhythm is and play a bass line by Chuck Rainey, a highly experienced session bassist who has played with some of the biggest names in modern African American (R&B) music. The Shuffle is a feel that involves subdividing the beat into three, and only playing the first and third sub-beats. Similar to swing in jazz, but characterized by a more staccato (short, sharp note) style. In some cases, it can also be perceived as a dotted eighth note and a sixteenth note. 0:00 - Bass line (performance) 0:27 - Introduction 1:03 - What is the Shuffle rhythm? 1:46 - What does the Shuffle sound like? 3:22 - Bass Line - Intro 3:57 - Full Bass Line (12 bars) 4:43 - Bar 1 5:38 - Bar 2 6:07 - Bar 3 6:43 - Bar 4 7:21 - Review bars 1-4 7:39 - Bar 5 8:33 - Bar 6 9:04 - Bar 7 9:42 - Bar 8 10:05 - Review bars 5-8 10:25 - Bar 9 11:22 - Bar 10 11:42 - Bar 11 12:06 - Bar 12 12:36 - Review bars 9-12 12:50 - Review full line 13:39 - Conclusion You can download the bass line from this video at the Next link: http://tinchoenelbajo.com.ar/partituras Note for the curious: the drummer who appears briefly in some sections of the video is Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, session drummer and R&B legend.
