We have spent a lot of time learning how to distinguish between vowel sounds that are easy to mix up. But there are a few remaining vowel sounds that we need to work on. Our vowel sound for today is written a few different ways in IPA. You don’t need to worry too much about that for now. For the purposes of today’s lesson, we will say it is this: /aɪ/ This vowel sound goes with a few different English spelling patterns – y, ie, or igh. Let’s practice with the vowel sound by doing a quiz. I will say a sentence. Count how many times you hear the /aɪ/ vowel sound. Why is the price so high?
