Band of the Coldstream Guards in Windsor 4 July 2026

The Band of the Coldstream Guards providing musical support for Changing the Guard in Windsor on 4 July 2026. The New Guard was from 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, and the Old Guard was from 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards. I thought that this was another very impressive performance from a powerful-sounding band. It was a mainly overcast morning which was relatively cool when I got to Windsor but which warmed-up quickly. It was surprisingly windy at times (wind can affect the recorded sound). It stayed dry throughout the time I was there. The usual aircraft noise wasn't especially obtrusive (the planes were taking off over the town). The town centre was very crowded, but the crowds in the immediate vicinity of this parade were generally reasonably light. In places I've left largely uncut footage where the band hasn't yet come into view, or has gone out of view, in order to keep as much of the music as possible. 00:00 The band emerging from the barracks, and marching up Sheet Street and round into the High Street on their way to Windsor Castle, leading the New Guard, playing "Eagle Squadron" (Kenneth Alford), and then "The Vedette" (also Kenneth Alford). 03:18 The band marching off the High Street, continuing up Castle Hill and entering the castle, leading the New Guard, still playing "The Vedette" (Kenneth Alford), and then "Action Front!" ("Klar zum Gefecht!") (H.L.Blankenburg). 05:13 The band marching back down Windsor High Street and round into Sheet Street towards the barracks, leading the Old Guard, playing "The Lillywhites" (David Marshall), and then "Blue Devils" (Charles Williams). 08:17 Filmed from quite a long way down Sheet Street, the band, leading the Old Guard, marching back down Sheet Street and approaching the barracks, playing "Army Of The Nile" (Kenneth Alford), and then finally, still heard after they've gone out of view, "The Grenadiers Return".
