Professor Sobhanlal Datta Gupta Prof. Datta Gupta (1948) had his education at Presidency College, Calcutta and Calcutta University between 1963 and 1968. Retired from Calcutta University in 2008 as Surendra Nath Banerjee Professor of Political Science. One of his major works Comintern and the Destiny of Communism in India 1919 – 1943 (2006) has been translated in Malayalam and German. Some of his recently published works include Marxism in Dark Times: Select Essays for the New Century (2012), The Socialist Vision and the Silenced Voices of Democracy. Part I: Rosa Luxemburg (2015), Part II : Nikolai Bukharin (2019) . He is currently Co Chairman: International Rosa Luxemburg Society, Berlin. .................. He completed his MPhil programme in 1990 under the supervision of Prof. Shobhanlal Dutta Gupta. Professor Chatterjee's special area of interest includes political thought and political philosophy, politics and culture, recent political trends in India etc. He retired as the Head of the Department of Political Science in the year 2016. ...................
