RE:Chording "Chording" and "Recording" the resonance of classic melodies and words as they blend into daily life. --------------------------------------- Released in 1958, "Hanagasa Douchuu" is a signature piece by Hibari Misora that remains a cornerstone of Showa-era music. Like "TRANSITORY LOVE" previously featured in this project, this track was originally written as film music by Masao Yoneyama. A beloved standard in Japan and famously covered in Taiwan, the song vividly paints a cinematic and emotive picture of a traveler’s journey—capturing the shifting landscapes and the sudden, tender longing for a loved one. Breathing new life into this classic is "Cuon," the solo project of Machi, who defines her sound as "Ambient Shoegazer." Operating under the fundamental theme of "escapism," she reimagined the song through a simple acoustic guitar performance. Her signature drifting soundscape is achieved by meticulously blending the raw acoustic resonance of the microphone with the processed line signal, creating an immersive depth unique to her style. Most notably, the performance was captured at the former Columbia Songs building. In a striking contrast to the song’s themes of traditional travel, the music is spun while overlooking the rushing flow of the "highway"—the modern-day symbol of a traveler's path. While eras change, the deep human emotions felt beneath a traveler's sky remain eternal.
