They will be in conversation with Sanjoy K. Roy. Amol Palekar is an artist whose journey spans painting, theatre, and cinema. A graduate of J.J. School of Arts, his encounter with Satyadev Dubey led to pioneering theatre inspired by Badal Sircar’s ‘Third Theatre’ movement. As a 1970s film star, he offered an alternative to larger-than-life heroes and became a household name. His work as a director examines complex human themes, and his memoir Viewfinder captures his rich experiences and steadfast commitment to artistic freedom. Sandhya Gokhale is a multifaceted civil rights attorney, filmmaker, and advocate blending law, art, and activism. Known for her powerful women-centric narratives, she has authored eight feature film scripts, including Paheli—India's official entry to the 2006 Oscars. Gokhale directed Bhinna Shadja, a documentary celebrating Kishori Amonkar, which she considers her most significant work. Alongside her husband, Amol Palekar, she champions collective action for social change.
