Series Playlist:    • Engines of Amtrak   By the 2010s, Amtrak's Genesis locomotives were the mainstay of their fleet for around 20 years. While they were still going strong, technology and emission standards had advanced and changed a lot since the 1990s. Given the railroad's success with Siemens' ACS-64, Amtrak went with the German tech company for a new diesel model. The result would be the SC-44 and ALC-42, one for intercity service, and the latter for long distance trains. With any new technology however, there's bound to be some teething troubles and glitches, and the Chargers were no stranger to that.
