Building products with NetBSD: Thin-clients by Stephen Borrill
This talk will discuss what thin-clients are, why they are useful and why NetBSD is good choice to build such a device. It will give information on some alternatives and the strengths and weaknesses of NetBSD when used in such a device. It will discuss problems that needed to be addressed such as how to get a device with rich functionality running from a small amount of flash storage, as well as recent developments in NetBSD that have helped improve the product. Stephen Borrill has recently become a NetBSD developer, but has been building commercial products based on NetBSD for over 10 years. He runs his own company specialising in Internet servers, thin-clients and complete network solutions with clients throughout the UK. He is married with a young daughter and in his copious free time (!), he plays in a ceilidh band and enjoys orienteering.
