Making trucks electric with Malcolm Group - A Primary Engineer & Transport Scotland Series⚡

🎙️ About this episode: In this session, you’ll meet John McGrory, Environmental and Stainability Director at Malcolm Group to explore: • How amazing trucks really are • How engineers are making trucks electric • Truck technologies you could work on in the future This interview is perfect for Key Stage 2 (7-11) and Key Stage 3 (11-14). 🧑‍🔧 Why these interviews matter: As part of our ‘If you were an engineer, what would you do?’ competition, teachers get the opportunity to be introduced to an engineer, in-person or virtually. Our video series with Transport Scotland, does just this! The series introduces pupils to inspiring people from companies in the Heavy-Duty Vehicle (HDV) sector, who illustrates what it’s like to work there and some of the challenges they face in their work such as achieving Net Zero, which in turn inspires pupils’ imaginations to solve these problems! This engagement also helps broaden knowledge among pupils age 3-19 of the range of careers available in this sector, raises career aspirations and dismantles stereotypes. 📚 What your class can do next: After watching this episode, pupils are encouraged to: Look around them and identify a problem they’d like to solve. Create an annotated drawing of their engineering idea. Write a letter to an engineer explaining why their idea should be built. All entries are reviewed by professional engineers, and every single pupil who participates receives a named and graded certificate!
