As a romantasy reader, I'll be honest...I didn't know if a fantasy book where romance takes a baaack seat would draw me in the same way. But I saw Brandon Sanderson's Secret Project announcement, and saw his fandom go absolutely feral...and I knew I wanted to join in. So, I started out with Mistborn, and I was floored. I loved this book - the magic system is so unique, and the worldbuilding is incredibly rich. "Mistborn: The Final Empire" by Brandon Sanderson is set in a bleak world ruled by the revered Lord Ruler. Our FMC, Vin, is a street-smart orphan with Mistborn abilities, which means she's capable of burning metals internally to unleash specific powers. Recruited by a rebellion leader named Kelsier, Vin joins a crew set on overthrowing the Lord Ruler's oppressive regime.
