Piet Oudolf x De Bloeimeesters - The future of plant knowledge in our public realm
The future of plant knowledge in our public realm On a misty morning in Hummelo… Over the past few years, we’ve been deliberately planting seeds in the green sector. From that grew a beautiful collaboration with De Bloeimeesters. The cherry on top? Coffee with the Michael Jordan of the field: Piet Oudolf. Together with landscape architect Arjan Boekel, we visited Piet’s private gardens in Hummelo. In turn, Arjan showed us his own project: Superbloei in Arnhem, clearly inspired by Piet’s work. What began as a conversation about design slowly shifted toward a sharper question about knowledge. About the growing gap between design ambition and ecological, planting-based reality. And about a professional field in which the lack of plant, habitat, and management knowledge is becoming increasingly urgent—especially at a time when biodiversity, heat stress, and water retention should be central. At Generatie Alles, we believe projects shouldn’t be captured, but brought to life. Photos and high-quality renders show the final result, but miss the layers in between: the process, the people, the rhythm of the place. That’s why we create content that moves along with the development. In doing so, we make design tangible, understandable, and lastingly relevant. Watch our mini-documentary here for the full experience. Thank you Piet Oudolf (and Anja), for your time and hospitality.
