In the first episode of PROPped by the Bar for 2024 we meet Paul Upham, owner of the Sawyers Arms Tavern in Geelong. This historic Geelong pub has recently seen the refurbishment of a new upstairs restaurant called 2 Noble plus is about to open a French inspired Steak Restaurant called - Eileen's (named after former owner Eileen Clatworthy). Paul and his father have bought and sold many pubs over the years but the sale of the iconic Lorne Hotel a few years ago was a game changer for the pair. The sale broke all records and in this episode we talk through how the sale happened and how much the hotel actually sold for.
