Teaching the Figure 8 with Paisleys
The Figure 8 in obedience competition encompasses numerous skills that the dog must demonstrate, including a faster pace on the outside turn, a slower pace on the inside turn, as well as the normal pace and halts. This is no small accomplishment considering the tightness of this exercise! To help my dogs better understand and succeed when performing the Figure 8, I invented "Paisleys" , which are curlew-ques that I employ to teach my dog to drive on the outside turn and to slow down considerably for that inside turn. I sincerely hope the following demonstration is beneficial to all hoping to succeed in obedience!!!
