I had the opportunity to meet an ex-Yakuza boss in Fukuoka, and I knew I couldn't pass this up. Yuyama-san was a Yakuza for 15 years, and although he had left the life a decade ago, he had plenty of information to share. He was also going to take me to one of Japan's strangest cultural staples: the hostess club.
