Dedication to Matagi - Tell The Wind How Brumbies Fall
Dedicated to Matagi, the majestic palomino stallion of The Snowy Mountains National Park, Australia. Matagi was shot dead on 1/7/2026 as part of a culling initiative led by National Parks, to protect the alpine ecosystem and to control invasive species. Matagi and his daughter were both tragically shot dead, in a transition area, meanwhile his mare and his mob stood nearby. There has to be another way to protect the environment and behave ethically and humanely. Until last year the Brumbies were protected and considered a part of Australia’s national heritage. Please share what is happening. This is a tragedy.
