The Lake Victoria Challenge Trial - Highlights

From October 29-31, 2018, the Lake Victoria Challenge (LVC) held a trial and symposium in Mwanza, Tanzania. Over 280 participants met on the shores of Lake Victoria to carry out drone flight demonstrations and to discuss innovation in regulatory policy, technology and infrastructure. The LVC trial and symposium brought together policy makers, drone manufacturers and operators, designers, entrepreneurs, local stakeholders and global thought leaders. Together, we've set the foundations for the Lake Victoria Challenge in 2019. Stay tuned for more! About the Lake Victoria Challenge: East Africa's Lake Victoria Basin is the most densely populated rural area in the world. Despite this, its 30 million people remain poorly connected to ground transportation and basic services. Life-saving cargo such as blood packs, critical medication, anti-venom, or spare parts for hospital equipment often cannot reach those who need them in sufficient time. The LVC has identified an opportunity to overcome these challenges. Comprised of a symposium, an expo and a flying competition, the LVC invites global technologists, health and transport experts, local African government and policymakers to make change.
