In June 2017, I went on a short hiking trip (three overnight stays) in the Nizhny Novgorod region. At one of the campsites, I set up a radio and conducted shortwave radio communications. Let's take a look at the beautiful nature that surrounded me during the hike and how I operated shortwave radios in the field. The radio I used was a Yaesu FT-817. The antenna was a 2 x 10m dipole. The radio was powered by a 3 Ah lithium battery installed in the radio's standard battery compartment.
