I have a film 6 meters wide (folded into a roll takes up 100 meters), and I need to get a sheet of 18 × 10 meters for the second layer of my thermos. 🔧 WHAT WE NEED: Film - in my case, ordinary cheap film (80-100 microns) Bar 5x5. Length about 3 meters. This is a convenient distance for walking in one go. A regular iron (I use the one that I haven't used for its intended purpose for a long time) A spatula from a board (I made it myself: I attached a small board to a trowel with a stapler) Baking paper (used as a protective layer) 📝 WORK STAGES: 1️⃣ Preparation for gluing: Measure the required size - determine how much film you will need Prepare the work surface - it should be perfectly flat. The corners of the block should be rounded. This way it will not cut the film. Work in calm conditions (the wind will interfere with holding the film) 2️⃣ The gluing process: 1. Overlap the sheets - about 2 centimeters. 2. Secure the edges - one person holds, the other pulls. 3. Put baking paper - this will protect the film from direct contact with the iron. 4. Iron - do it evenly, without lingering in one place. 5. Iron a second time - for reliability, but do not hold it for too long, so as not to burn. 3️⃣ Important nuances: Iron temperature - set to maximum, but test on a small piece of film. Smooth surface - roughness will interfere with uniform gluing. Movements - move the iron smoothly, do not step on the film. Work in pairs - it is easier to hold and stretch large sheets. 💡 TIPS FROM THE PROS: For old film - be sure to wipe it before gluing to remove dust. Strength test - a properly glued seam is even stronger than the film itself Time of year - heat is not a problem, the main thing is the absence of wind Film thickness - I used 100 microns, but 150 microns is also suitable OTHER WAYS TO GLUE THE FILM: Using a hair dryer.
