Joabe's big, amazing, awesome, final Chicago run

What started as one man's personal challenge in August 2024 became a citywide movement. Over 680 days, Joabe — a Brazilian-born doctoral student at Roosevelt University — logged more than 4,000 miles across all 77 neighborhoods, hitting every block, every dead-end, every cul-de-sac. No one had ever done it before. And I joined over 1,000 runners to help celebrate the completion of his goal. In this video, I meet up with fellow runners at North Ave. Beach, take you along Michigan Avenue as the city blocked it off just for this moment, and we wrap up at Buckingham Fountain. Along the way, I chat with the people drawn together by a grad student with a Chicago flag around his neck and a message that this city is worth knowing, block by block.
