Portable Toolbox Diesel Heater - Impressive But Flawed! Hcalory SS2 Review

We test the Hcalory SS2, a portable 8kW diesel heater in a toolbox for vans, awnings and workshops. With so many choices on the market, finding the best Chinese diesel heater can be overwhelming. The Hcalory SS2 stood out for its claims of versatility, compact design, and 8kw power - an all in one diesel heater basically. In this video, we put it through its paces to see how it performs in our van, with a view to later use it in our workshop and awning. Loads of recent videos have focused on the form factor of these toolbox heaters, and the fact tearing them down or servicing them might be hard. So in the first part you can see how to take it apart to the stage where you'd be servicing it. There is an issue with the power supply if misused. The C14 connector is not designed for 12V - so we will swap this out for a more suitable connector in the future as well as a fused plug. Meanwhile we will ensure no odd kettle plugs are used on this - if you’ve one of these do the same. Getting the heat into the van, or room, opens up a number of options. We decided to make an adapter for our vans window to vent the 75mm hose into the living space. We then test the heater on an autumnal day to see how it heated the space.
