Is RawBeautyKristi actually MAGA? (A Deep Dive)

In 2024, OG beauty guru RawBeautyKristi was skewered by commentary and drama channels for her association with a conservative, religious homeschool cooperative. I call this ‘HomeschoolGate.’ Photos of Kristi at a Fourth of July parade showed her in the company of some homophobic Christians. And so Kristi was convicted of the devil’s trinity: homophobia, transphobia, and conservative Christianity. Suddenly her name was emblazoned across headlines about conservative MAGA tradwives and the crunchy-to-alt-right pipeline. The only problem is that this version of Kristi isn’t real. Kristi isn’t homophobic, and she isn’t conservative. Most of her opinions on climate change, government policy and culture land squarely on the left - but no-one bothered to fact check their accusations with her actual words. As Kristi’s reputation soured, online commentators combed through her history, selecting only information that supported their accusations, and the resulting wave of online bullying only seemed to push her into the arms of conservatism after all. So why did all of these people lie about Kristi? And why did we believe them? To answer these questions, we must look at who Kristi really is and what really happened. This story involves heaps of weird, crunchy misinformation, from wacky fad diets to conspiracy theories, through the fifteen year span of Kristi’s career. But one thing is for sure: the RawBeautyKristi who was accused of bigotry in HomeschoolGate is not a real person. Luckily for us, the real Kristi is so much more interesting.
