'Be Joyful in You' - Psalm 5

There is an older Scripture chorus taken from the Psalm 5:1-3, and I must confess that I never paid much attention to the rest of this chapter before. But as I read it a few days ago, I realized that I had always missed a very important teaching. I had always just looked at how the first part of the chapter starts with the the title of "A Prayer for Guidance to the Chief Musician. With flutes. A Psalm of David'. Prayer may be the theme of the first few verses, but the Psalm ends with the challenge to rejoice, shout for joy, and be joyful in the Lord. We can rejoice because God blesses us with favor and surrounds us like a shield. If we remember to pray whatever the may prove to be, we gain the strength to praise and be joyful, knowing that God will take care of it. We first get our attention focused on God and trust in Him, and we will find our heart fills with praise and joy. He makes our way straight as we walk with Him and love His Name, we will be joyful in Him, not in whatever is going on around us. This Psalm means much more to me now and I'm glad I put it to music.
