If you're a viewer of this series, "Rock Fukuda's Watch Spirit!" (i.e., soulmate), you probably own multiple watches. And among those, you probably have a watch that you think, "It's about time for an overhaul." Or, "It broke down a long time ago." Or, "It's been broken ever since I got it." I'm sure you have a watch like that. Fukuda is one of those people. He has a number of broken watches lying around. And one of them, the "GS Self-Data," is the second Grand Seiko model. Fukuda actually owns two "GS Self-Data." The first was given to him by his father when he was in junior high school (photo on the left). The second was found while sorting through his father-in-law's (his wife's father) belongings after he passed away (photo on the right). The former had previously been overhauled by Seiko. The latter was completely broken when he found it. So, I'd been thinking for a while that I should get the second watch repaired as well. So, you see. I finally decided to get that second watch overhauled. I decided to consult with Hirota, the editor-in-chief of Chronos Japan, and he introduced me to Zenmai Works. That's right, the renowned repair shop known only to those in the know. So, in this article, I'd like to introduce you to Zenmai Works. And, as if that weren't enough, Editor-in-Chief Hirota will also be making a guest appearance. So, the story will get a little more involved in some areas. I think those of you who are into that kind of thing will enjoy it. By the way, I received the watch after it was overhauled just a few days before writing this. It's incredibly accurate, with an accuracy of less than 5 seconds per day. It's the best watch Fukuda currently owns. So, maybe I should take my other watches to Zenmai Works as well. That's what I'm really thinking.
