ISA Members Present: HOPEful Care for Parents Continuing Pregnancy with LLFC: Research to Practice

Presenter: Denise Côté-Arsenault Denise Côté-Arsenault,PhD, RN, CPLC, FNAP, FAAN, has many years of clinical experience in childbearing family nursing: as childbirth educator (19), staff nurse in labor, delivery, postpartum and neonatal areas (12), lactation consultation (30) and supporting families experiencing perinatal loss (30). Dr. Côté-Arsenault’s 30 years of research is focused on improving care for parents who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal death. Her research program’s concentration has been on women’s experiences of pregnancy after prior perinatal loss, couples’ experiences of continuing pregnancy with a life-limiting fetal condition and perinatal palliative care. She has over 50 peer-reviewed publications and is co-editor of Perinatal Palliative Care: A Clinical Guide (2020). Denise's presentation provides a brief overview of an intervention to provide caring support for parents who continue their pregnancy with life-limiting fetal diagnosis. The intervention is theory-based and tested via telehealth with couples across their pregnancy and three months post birth. It was found to be much appreciated and feasible.
