లక్మీ కళ్యాణం సాంగ్ కోలాటం || సింహాచలం కళ్యాణోత్సవం Hello viewers welcome to my channel Gani Extreme. Today witnessed beautiful Kolatam dance in Sri Varahanrusimhaswamy kalyanotsavam held n Simhachalam hill top. Kolattam is the folk dance of Andhra Pradesh. The theme of this dance is based on the fight between Lord Shiva's two wives Goddess Ganga and Goddess Parvathi. The dance form emerged in the Seventh century. In Kolattam Dance the dancers use sticks to keep the rhythm of the dance. These sticks are stroked against each other to create a harmony and also make the dance more swift and soothing. The Kolattam Dance is also known as Hallisaka. The term is derived from the Sanskrit Language.The women usually wear the yellow saree with red borders. The musical instruments which are used are Mridangam, Harmonium, and few times Clarinet. Kolattam is an ancient folk dance practiced mainly in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. It is usually performed by women using two short wooden sticks, one in each hand. The dancers generally stand in a circular formation and crisscross the sticks to make specific rhythms while singing folk songs. Unlike its North Indian counterpart Dandiya Ras, it comes in two forms. First, it is performed with coloured sticks and usually involves both men and women dancing together. Kolattam, derived from the word "Kol" signifying sticks, involves the striking of these sticks together in sync with rhythmic movements.
