Which Rooms Are Leakiest? Zonal Pressure Diagnostics
Zonal Pressure Diagnostics is the fancy term for throwing the tube of a pressure gauge (called a manometer) under a door and writing down the result. If a room is more than 10-15% connected to outdoors, the odds are you won't be able to solve comfort problems with heating and cooling alone. The house probably needs to be air sealed to work well. In this test I show how leaky each room of our new place, The River House, is. To learn more about how your house works so you can solve annoying problems, read HVAC 101 and Comfort 101 from my book The Home Comfort Book.
