20-years of Impact on People and the Planet Episode 2 - How Green Buildings Improve the Health and Well-being of Occupants In this episode of the Sustainability Lounge by EmiratesGBC, hosted by Farah Yassine, Chair of the EmiratesGBC Women’s Network and Individual Member of EmiratesGBC, the council invited a very special guest to tell us about how green buildings improve occupants’ health and wellbeing. Abdulrahman Khansaheb, Managing Director of Khansaheb Group and Corporate Member of EmiratesGBC, shares how the spaces we live, work, and spend most of our time in have a direct impact on our physical health, mental wellbeing, productivity, and overall quality of life. He discusses the importance of indoor air quality, the hidden risks of pollutants, humidity, mould, and building materials, and explains how occupants can take practical steps to assess and improve the health of their indoor environments. A key message of the episode is that health and wellbeing should not be treated as a “nice-to-have” feature but as a core objective of building design and operation. As people spend around 90% of their time indoors, creating healthier buildings requires a holistic approach that brings together sustainability, occupant wellbeing, innovation, and collaboration across the entire built environment value chain. The Sustainability Lounge by EmiratesGBC, is a co-working space where members of the Emirates Green Building Council meet, connect, collaborate and contribute towards making sustainability a practice in the built environment.
