The training took place in Hohenlockstedt in Schleswig-Holstein and was top secret. Since the Finns did not yet have their own armed forces, the Finnish Jägers were led as the Royal Prussian Jäger Battalion No. 27. The training was so good that the soldiers were able to play a key role in driving out the Russians in the 1918 civil war. Many later generals or admirals of the Finnish armed forces had completed training in Hohenlockstedt. The gratitude still resonates today and the good relationship is maintained to this day. On March 1, 2025, the 110th anniversary of the founding of the Finnish Jägers and at the same time of the Finnish armed forces was celebrated in Hohenlockstedt. The Inspector General of the German Armed Forces, General Carsten Breuer, and Finland's Chief of Defense, General Janne Jaakkola, were also present.
