Classic Mini Transfer Case Rebuild – Bearing Replacement & Shim Setup!

In this episode of the gearbox rebuild series, I tackle the Classic Mini transfer case rebuild, replacing the transfer case bearings, removing stubborn interference-fit bearings, and setting up the idler gear shimming correctly. I’ll show you the techniques I use to remove and install the bearings using heat, a blind bearing puller, and a few workshop tricks along the way. We also check the idler gear clearance using feeler gauges to make sure everything is shimmed within spec before final assembly. This is one of the more fiddly jobs in a Mini gearbox rebuild, but with patience, heat, and the right tools it’s very achievable at home. Plus, at the end of the video I answer a viewer Q&A about how I first got into Classic Minis and the cars that started my petrolhead journey! 👍 Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and join the Mini community! 📩 Contact & Links 📧 E-mail: [email protected] 🛒 CMW Online Store: https://logothatpolo.co.uk/store/cmws/ ☕ Buy Me a Coffee Want to offer a quick thank you?
