Shoot The Queen? 1981 Trooping The Colour 'Assassin'

As we approach Trooping the Colour 2025, the King's official birthday parade in London, I'm reminded of the same event in 1981, when shots were fired at Queen Elizabeth II as she rode towards Horse Guards by a young man armed with a revolver. Who was the shooter and why did he target The Queen?
