Creating a A Brief Collection of Moments

How does a ballet come into being? Go behind the scenes of A Brief Collection of Moments, an original contemporary ballet by choreographer Vanessa Cook, created through the Center for Latter-day Saint Arts' Ariel Bybee Endowment. From its earliest design stages during late-night zoom meetings to its world premiere with Utah Metropolitan Ballet, this short documentary follows the collaboration behind the work. Hear from choreographer Vanessa Cook, composer Dylan Findley, and featured soloist Jesyca Chugg as they reflect on the creative process, bringing together dance, original music, live orchestra, and visual art into a single, resonant performance. Featuring performances by Utah Metropolitan Ballet, original music by Dylan Findley, lyrics by Darlene Young, visual artwork by Michelle Nixon and Justin Wheatley, and program text by Isaac Richards. A Brief Collection of Moments premiered in April 2026. Vanessa Cook was the recipient of the Ariel Bybee Endowment Prize in 2025, an award supporting ambitious new works by Latter-day Saint artists.
